Health and Healing - Classes and Workshops I love to learn! And I love to share what I learn too. My classes are always fun, thought provoking, and educational (or so my students tell me). Contact me if you're interested in having one of my interactive classes or workshops at your location. CEs for Massage Therapists where noted.
My specialty is working with clients who have experienced trauma -- physical, emotional, sexual, spiritual. I've found that trauma 'sticks' in the body, creating spots that create repetitive patterns. Those 'knots' in the shoulder may be from stress, or they may have another cause.

Ethics in a Small Town: 2 Degrees of Separation -- Boundaries and Confidentially are important in any community. But what if you live in a place where everybody know someone who know you? You may run into clients at the grocery store, your kid's school, or church. And you're clients may know each other too. What do you do when one client starts taking about another during a session? Or a wife confessing she is thinking about divorce, and her husband is also a client? Are there ever time when you should break confidentiality? (3 CEs)
Ethics in the Spa - Working in a spa can have it's challenges. Beside probably therapeutic massage, employees often are faced with dilemmas of what they can and can't do in the work place. What happens if a coworker 'steals' your clients? Does the front desk staff give preferential treatment to some therapist? What should you put in SOAP notes when every employee has access to them? This class uses real life situations and discusses possible solutions to these dilemmas. (4 CEs)
Massage and Addictions - Chances are at one of your clients is an addict. They may not walk in smelling like 'weed' or stumbling. They may look and act like a 'normal' person. In 2008, there were an estimated 7 million drug addicts in the United States. This is based on results from the 2008 National Survey in Drug Use and Health conducted by the US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. 3.1 million of this number were classified ‘with dependence on or abuse of both alcohol and illicit drugs’. Is there a specific protocol used with these clients? How do we recognize signs of addictions, and what can we do to support these clients? (3 CEs)
Massage and First Responders - Fire fighters, Police, EMTs, and other 1st Responders have one of the most difficult jobs in the country. They can be constantly in the 'fight or flight' mode. Recent events in the US shows an escalation of violence between 1st Responders and the general public. Massage Therapists have a unique opportunity to combat this pattern of violence. This class focuses on how altercations can escalate, what 1st Responders experience, and how to help alleviate violence using chair massage. (3 CEs)
Oily Foot Reflexology - Essential Oils plus Reflexology = deep, non threatening healing! Most people love getting their feet 'rubbed.' Combining two distinct techniques creates an opportunity for the whole body to heal in a gentle way. I often use this protocol with clients who may be sensitive to touch. (3 CEs)
Quantum Healing - A different kind of energy work that is both fun and effective! Have those clients which come in with the same 'knot' every time? Learn simple techniques based on Quantum Physics that creates space and allows the body/mind/spirit to re-pattern in a new way. This is also very effective with people who do not like to be touched.
Rock N Rock Bodywork -- Tired of the same ole same ole massage? Try Rock N Roll Bodywork! This integrated approach to massage incorporates relaxation, deep tissue, and 'rocking and rolling' that lets the body release in a deep way with little discomfort. And if your a massage therapist this technique uses different and effective methods that save your hands! 2 separate classes focusing on different areas -- Upper Body (4 CE), Lower Body (4 CE), -- (8 CEs total).
